Expert Pet Care

Our life’s mission became clear in early 2005 when we reflected upon the impact two very special senior dogs had on our lives.  In addition to three very young West Highland White Terriers, we shared our lives with Annabelle, (2/11/89 – 3/11/05), and Princess (1/1/94 – 1/16/05), who joined our family in 2002 & 2004, respectively.  The short time we spent with them taught us a great deal, not only about caring for “geriatric” canines, but also the life-changing effect humans can have on senior animals and vice versa.

The past 12 years have filled our lives with an additional 23 seniors and dogs with special needs, as well as countless experiences with a multitude of veterinary practices in the Chicagoland area.  Sadly, we found something lacking in many of those interactions, often walking away with more questions than answers about the health of our furkids.  In 2008, we began the journey to develop a veterinary clinic model that even today does not exist in the 23,000+ clinics across America.  We have developed a fantastic and diverse multi-modal platform which can support small breed animals and, eventually, exotic, avian, and limited equine veterinary medicine.  The Human-Animal Bond is at the core of our endeavor, as are the practice of Gold Standard medicine and unrivaled client service engagement.

We believe that through good communication (marketing & branding), client education, and utilization of ever changing technology (social media, apps, etc.) we will provide a level of customer care rarely seen in our industry.  Each and every day we will be “Making a Difference in the Lives of Companion Animals and Their Owners Across America.”

Delivering the Best Veterinary Care and Affection

Integrative Veterinary Medicine focuses on treating the whole patient by utilizing the myriad resources available to today’s veterinarian.  It is a comprehensive medical approach to pet care that combines the best of conventional medicine and complementary and alternative therapies.  Integrative medicine centers on the patient and addresses the full range of physical, emotional, mental, and environmental influences that affect an animal’s health and well-being.

The World Health Organization (WHO) defined health in its broader sense in its 1948 constitution as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity.”

Utilizing this approach, APWC focuses on treating the whole animal, in partnership with our clients and through the use of appropriate therapeutic options to achieve optimal wellness for your beloved animal companion.

The APWC Mission Statement

Our commitment and highest priority is to the wellness and well-being of our clients’ companion animals. The All Pets Wellness Centers staff is committed to providing stellar medical care and services with compassion, commitment, and dedication. The All Pets Wellness experience is highlighted by our staff’s commitment to empowering and displaying their collective knowledge, experience, and skill sets which allows our clients to make informed choices for their companion animal’s wellness.

Over time, APWC intends to take its model national. Our look will encompass brand identity along with optics enhanced by natural and inspirational color schemes.

All Pets Wellness Centers’ innovative platform will change the veterinary experience in America. APWC’s AAHA Gold standard medical and rehabilitation care is supported within our clinics and will be offered under our home healthcare modality. APWC mobile support vehicles also offer equine care. As a small breed clinic, we have the ability to treat exotics and Avian within our trade areas. Specialty services are added as additional DVMs with specialty skill sets are employed. APWC has partnered an electronic practice management system (Vetspire) which brings a level of sophistication that combines operational efficiency with real time information. APWC is instituting a customer service program modeled after successful hospitality and gaming organizations, delivering services within our all-inclusive platform within one building, purporting a campus environment. Our optic look is exemplified by our commitment to a modern look with a hint of whimsy, while delivering all of our services under the medical and rehabilitation AAHA veterinary standards platform. As a 24/7/365 operation, we are a very efficient operating system which affords savings to be passed on to our clientele.

Integrative Services

PREVENTIVE MEDICINE VETERINARY SERVICES

The Benjamin Franklin axiom that “an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure” is as true today as it was when Franklin made the quote, especially when it comes to Veterinary medicine.  To help your pet live a longer, healthier life, APWC offers a wide range of preventative care services, which includes vaccinations, vaccine titers, nutrition counseling, wellness services, and client education.  For older pets, we also offer skilled geriatric care that can help pets enjoy a long and active life.

DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENT SERVICES

Proper diagnosis is essential when it comes to treating your pet.  To aid our veterinarians, we offer a full in-house veterinary laboratory, including hematology, chemistries, parasite diagnostics, and cytology. Advanced diagnostic equipment, including digital radiography, digital ultrasound, thermography, electrocardiograms, endoscopy, and digital otoscopy, gives our vets a powerful set of tools for finding and solving animal health care problems fast.

State of the art treatments, such as Plasma Rich Platelet (PRP) & Stem Cell Therapies, utilize the latest in medical technologies, when warranted.  Orthopedic and soft tissue surgery are also available.

MEDICAL (EMERGENCY)

Triage/emergency services will initially be available during regular day-time hours.  Patients requiring overnight monitoring will be attended by Certified Veterinary Technicians while veterinarians will be on-call if changes occur overnight.  As our practice grows, we will open a fully functioning emergency hospital staffed by both veterinarians and technicians, so if an emergency occurs overnight, we will be able to care for your beloved animal companion.

INTERNAL MEDICINE

Since our pets cannot tell us exactly why they do not feel good, our Internal Medicine specialist offers advanced diagnostic testing and procedures to help pinpoint and treat their ailments.

REHABILITATION

Rehabilitation Therapy is more than supportive care following surgical procedures.  It is a modality that is also important for healthy, athletic animals as well as supporting older animals to continue to be healthy and active in their geriatric years.

APWC will house state-of-the-art equipment, including underwater treadmills, therapeutic (cold) lasers, E-Stim, and hyperbaric chambers.

DAYCARE/BOARDING

The Daycare & Boarding experience at APWC are like no other.  Brightly decorated walls, lots of sunshine and our certified handlers and trainers greet you and your canine companion.  Our low client to caregiver ratio helps to ensure that your furbaby receives the attention he/she deserves.  Our daycare is not just a petsitting facility.  Choose from any number of play and training options to keep your dog’s mind sharp.

Our Boarding clients also enjoy scheduled play time as well as training of your choice while they are here.  Our boarding clients are monitored around the clock and you can check in with them through our secured video feeds.

GROOMING

Fear-free handling is important when entrusting your animal companion to our caring grooming staff for baths, trims, or cuts.  The spa-like atmosphere of our grooming center and our experienced groomers will pamper your beloved pet.

TRAINING

Our daycare area provides the ideal place for certified trainers to help you build close, trusting relationships with your canine companions.  As our clientele grows in numbers, so will the types of training we can provide.  From puppy socialization and obedience to nosework, rally, and other performance training, APWC is your place for fun and learning with your furry companion.  Basic training is also offered through our daycare program.

HOME HEALTH CARE/HOSPICE

We know that it is not always possible for you to transport your pet to our facility.  In those cases, where it is better to allow your pet to remain in his/her home environment, a veterinarian team or a Certified Veterinary Technician will come to your home for your beloved pet.  Whether your pet requires preventative or palliative care, our caring, experienced, home care team will provide the best care possible.

PET CAFÉ

Peruse the shelves for a unique gift for your furry companion or yourself.  Unique items for companion animals and their owners; freshly baked goods for both animals and their humans, coffee, tea, and other beverages, as well as a small selection of pet foods/food samples will be available.  Café tables/chairs and free, secure WiFi will be available for owners to pass the time while their pets are being treated.

Mary Ann Minick
Mary Ann MinickCEO & President

Mary Ann often jokes that it has taken her a half century to decide what she wanted to do when she grew up, but a truer statement has never been made.  She received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from DePaul University through the Strobel Scholar program in 1985.

After working in both public accounting and private industry, Mary Ann went to work for the fifth largest advertising agency in the world.  She had secret hopes of moving to the creative side of the business, but that did not work out.  From there, she moved into video and television production, working in accounting, office management, and, later, production as both a technician and producer.  After approximately 15 years in this industry, she moved into management and computer technical support in the real estate industry.

Mary Ann’s life took a personal turn in 2000 towards life with animals when she and her husband got their first West Highland White Terrier puppy, Snickers.  Thus began her journey into the world of veterinary medicine.  As the years passed, Jim and Mary Ann began to rescue senior dogs.  Knowing the importance of understanding the myriad health issues they were encountering as companion animal guardians, she decided to pursue a degree in Veterinary Technology.

The convoluted journey Mary Ann has traveled to get to this point has given her an in depth understanding of how to run a business from many different perspectives.  Her business background and practical experience in Veterinary Technology assist her in applying a multitude of skills to help build a veterinary hospital organization, dedicated to the health and well-being of both companion animals and their owner guardians.
